You start you big city tour in the Capitol of the United States, Washington D.C. Here you’ll have 3 nights where you can explore the unique experiences that the city has to offer. Washington is one huge Museum and you are its guest.

Museums, power and opportunities

You’ll have to visit The White House while you are in Washington. Actually you can’t miss The White House while you are there. Behind The White House you’ll find the many monuments, which are very moving. All the attractions in Washington are located along The Mall, which is a 1½ mile long road. It makes it very easy to walk around the city and experience all the many attractions. To the west you’ll find The Lincoln Memorial, which probably is one of the most famous monuments. The monument is a celebration to president Lincoln who was president during the civil war and held the country together. In the center of all the monuments you’ll find The Washington Monument, which is the huge pointed pillar with American flags surrounding it.

Silence, Shopping and grandeur

Along The Mall you’ll also find some of the best museums, including: National Gallery of Art, National Air and Space Museum, and Spy Museum. Washington is not like the other big cities like New York and Boston where the skyscrapers stand shoulder to shoulder and locals are running around. The atmosphere is much more relaxed and not as rushed for the many business people that live in the city. One of the most casual suburbs in Washington is Georgetown. It is really cozy and full café’s small streets and stores with great shopping opportunities. Georgetown resembles the old Washington D.C. and is defiantly worth a visit.

(2-hour-and-35-minute drive)

Next stop on the tour is Philadelphia. The city also offers a lot of attractions that you can’t miss. You should visit the Liberty Bell center, which rang in the United States’ independence back in 1776. The bell used to hang in Independence Hall, but now it is located in front of the building in a glass montre for everyone to see. The bell was moved on its 200th birthday in 1976. The bell was created in England and the well known crack that goes down the middle came while transporting it from England.

Hand sown flags and night tours

If you want a different type of tour you can go on the Lights of Liberty tour, which is a night tour that takes you through the most historical events in Philadelphia.
The tour tells the stories through sounds and lights and is a spectacular and fun way to experience the historical events. Another attraction is the American flag Stars and Stripes. Betsy Ross hand sewed the first American flag and you can see her earlier home and the first flag at her old address, 239 Arch Street. Her home has been made into a museum and tells all about the flag’s origin.

Authentic and old Philly

While in Philly we recommend that you visit one of the most authentic neighborhoods called Elfreth’s Valley. The area is known as one of the oldest neighborhoods in the U.S., and the houses date all the way back to the 1700’s. It’s a very cozy and different area located in a busy big city. If you are in Philadelphia on a Friday you can visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where they serve light meals, wine, and cocktails in a unique combination with art, live music and performances. It all starts after 5 pm.

DAY 5 – 10: NEW YORK

(1-hour-and-35-minute drive)

Next stop is New York City, which is probably the most famous city on your big city tour. If you haven’t visited New York before, you should defiantly use a day or two to visit all of the popular attractions.

Central park and genuine New York atmosphere

Start your morning with a to-go coffee in central park. The park is always great, no matter if you are visiting in the summer, spring, fall or winter time. There is always a great atmosphere with street musicians, small food trucks and couples in horse-drawn carriages. The park is enormous, and if you go exploring in the park there is no telling what you will experience.

From Central park you can walk to Times Square, where there is a totally different, vibrant and loud atmosphere. Continue to Rockefeller Center and go to the top where the view is absolutely amazing! We recommend that you go to the top of the Rockefeller Center instead of the Empire State building, because the view is much better from “Top of the Rock.”

All in one – New York

Walk through the different neighborhoods SoHo, Greenwich Village and China Town and talk a walk across Brooklyn Bridge, which is the most popular and most photographed bridge in New York. Continue to Wall Street and touch the charging bull that gives economic luck. From Wall Street you can continue south where you can see the Statue of Liberty. From the southern harbor you can take a ferry to The Statue of Liberty and even access the crown and get an unforgettable view of the New York skyline.

We recommend the use of the Hop of-Hop on buses that drive throughout New York. They take you past all the major attractions in New York and you can hop off and on the bus as much as you please. You can also take the buses at night, which gives a totally new look at the city.

DAY 10 – 13: BOSTON

(3-hours-and-45-minute drive)

Your last stop is Boston, or New Yorks little brother as it is also called. Boston is one of the old British colonies and it clearly shows from the way the old buildings were built. Beacon Hill is one of the most popular areas in Boston and you should defiantly give it a visit. The small and narrow streets makes it a cozy experience where you will find a lot of small shops.

You should also visit Sam’s Bar – Yes, the Sam’s Bar from the TV Show. It is one of the most famous TV-Bars in the world and it is located in Boston. The bar is called Bull & Finch pub in real life and if you think it’s like walking into a scene from Sam’s Bar then we have to disappoint you. It is only the outside of the pub that was used in the show. The inside was filmed in a studio.
Breathtaking and comfortable Boston

You should also visit Rose Kennedy Greenway, which is a relaxing spot in the middle of the busy city. The oasis is 1 mile long and holds parks, arts, trees, squares, flowers and lakes. It is a wonderful oasis that gives the city a whole new life, and you forget that you are in a big city when you visit Rose Kennedy Greenway. In the southern part of the park you’ll find Chinatown Park.

Another must when you are in Boston is to visit some of the many universities. You should especially visit Harvard University, which is one of the most famous universities in the world. A lot of famous people have studied at Harvard, such as John F. Kennedy. If you want to, you can go on a tour of the university.
